Anya attended the 2021 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles the night before, where her Netflix limited series The Queen’s Gambit was a big nominee.
In the show, she plays a little orphaned girl who grows up to become a renowned chess prodigy.
But as she continues to abuse drugs and alcohol, her incredible career could come to an end.
One of the big winners of the evening was The Queen’s Gambit, which won 11 Emmys out of its 18 nominations.
Most of those were from the previous week’s Creative Arts Emmys, but writer-director Scott Frank took home the Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie prize at the main ceremony, and The Queen’s Gambit also took home the night’s top honour, Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.

The statement drew criticism from certain social media users who said it misrepresented that plot point of the show and diminished the actress’s abilities to mere sex appeal.
Frank’s lengthy acceptance speech, in which the play-off music began at three different occasions, drew criticism from some.
In the end, Kate Winslet won the Lead Actress prize for her HBO mystery series Mare of Easttown, beating Anya.
Elizabeth Olsen, Cynthia Erivo, and Michael Coel were the three nominees in this category.
