In her career, Sydney Sweeney is going through a significant phase.

On Wednesday, the 25-year-old White Lotus actor appeared on the Today show, where she talked about her new movie Reality and the choices she made as a young child that eventually contributed to her extraordinary success.

The film revolves around Reality Winner, a former National Security Agency contractor who was arrested in 2017 on suspicion of providing The Intercept with a classified document during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The Broadway play Is This a Room, which is a verbatim recounting of Winner’s arrest and questioning, served as the inspiration for the movie. It opened in 2021.

The Euphoria actress, who will be seen in the upcoming romantic comedy Anyone But You, looked stunning in a pleated skirt and mint green jacket. She accessorised the look with black high-heeled slingback shoes and white socks.

“She is such a complex person.” She added, “And I had never read anything that was taken straight from the transcripts when I first read the script.”

“This is the real FBI interrogation—not a word is changed.”

In addition, when the actress trained for the part, she had the opportunity to meet with Reality.

The Washington native also discussed decisions she made as a child that led her to her current situation with Hoda Kotb.

She wanted to try out for a movie that was being filmed in her hometown of Spokane, Washington, when she was eleven years old. She came up with a creative method to tell her parents.

“I created a five-year plan outlining my potential outcomes if my parents allowed me to try out for this local small-budget film.”

She presented the strategy with some rationality, if not much loftiness, implying that if she went to a short film audition, talent agencies would see her, which would lead to a meeting with a well-known producer, and so on.

“They came to understand that I took my identity and goals very seriously,” she remarked.

Sydney’s second ambition is also coming true: she will be able to showcase her comedic abilities in the upcoming romantic comedy Anyone But You, which she recently wrapped up filming in Sydney, Australia.

She told Variety earlier this week that she and her 34-year-old co-star Glen Powell “laughed every day” while working on the film.

It was really a lot of fun. We had a lot of fun every day, and the actors and crew were all really wonderful individuals with whom we got along,” she remarked.
