Anya Taylor-Joy, who has been busy promoting her new film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, wore a different attire on Wednesday when she went into Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood.
The 28-year-old Golden Globe winner was on her way to pre-record her appearance with Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff on Wednesday night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Midtown.
Anya, who is making her second appearance on the CBS talk show, chose to wear a white dress that accentuates her cleavage.
Taylor-Joy, who works with stylist Ryan Hastings, tucked the flirtatious dress, which had spaghetti straps, a tight bodice, and a flowing knee-length skirt, onto her slender 5’8″ frame.
The actress from Dune: Part Two looked spectral in her white Aquazzura high heels and platinum-blonde hairstyled down her back by stylist Gregory Russell.
Makeup artist Georgie Eisdell applied a mauve lipstick to Anya’s mouth and a hint of bronze shadow to her signature wide-set brown eyes to ensure she didn’t seem overly washed out.
This Friday, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, George Miller’s $168 million post-apocalyptic prequel, opens in US and UK theaters. Taylor-Joy says she was “really excited” to play Imperator Furiosa.
The Argentine-English beauty, who was born in Miami, boldly replaced Charlize Theron as the tough battle captain in the critically praised 2015 movie Mad Max: Fury Road, which brought in $380.4 million worldwide at the box office.
Anya exclaimed to NBC News on Wednesday, “I never imagined when I saw Fury Road that I would have the opportunity to play one of the most iconic characters, and she is everything to me.”
One of Charlize’s most masterful performances was when she truly captured the spirit of the role. So instead of attempting to take precise cues from her performance, I just felt that if I could capture the right essence of the role, that would be my path.
The 48-year-old Oscar winner, however, stated to ET last year: “I haven’t really been around Anya at a function or anything like that. I met her years ago.” I am at a loss for an actress. She will be OK, in my opinion. She’s going to be quite fine without speaking to me.
With 133 reviews, Furiosa—which also stars Chris Hemsworth, Alyla Browne, and Tom Burke—has already earned an 87% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a “certified fresh” film.
The dystopian origin story, which is aiming for a $80M–$85M worldwide release, was met with a standing ovation that lasted for almost eight minutes following its world debut on May 15 at the Cannes Film Festival.
Other projects that Taylor-Joy has coming up include the thriller Sacrifice directed by Romain Gavras, the action-horror romance The Gorge for Apple TV+ directed by Scott Derrickson, and the drama thriller Laughter in the Dark (which Netflix rejected).
Malcolm McRae, the frontman of More, who she started seeing in March 2021, was absent from the Cannes Chopard Trophy winner’s side on Wednesday. She has been married to him for two years.
