Although Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney play rival roles in their next film, they actually get along great.
On Monday, the cast of the romantic comedy Anyone But You was spotted walking hand in hand through New York City and smiling as they promoted the R-rated film.
Earlier this month, Powell exclaimed over their amazing chemistry, even though the costars—Sweeney and Jonathan Davino—claim that their relationship is platonic.
“A great romantic comedy doesn’t survive without great chemistry, and Sydney is the easiest person to have chemistry with,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “It felt like we had known each other for ages right away, and anyone who has worked on set knows that I can’t get enough of talking to Sydney,” the speaker said.
Along with Sweeney, the Set It Up actor said they “laugh together.”
“She’s awesome, obviously one of the most talented actresses we have,” he said to the website. Because Sydney is so simple to make up and fall in love with, this film has seemed like a romantic comedy in and of itself.
There were rumors that Powell and Sweeney were having an off-screen romance since their Will Gluck-directed springtime film shoot in Australia coincided with Powell’s breakup with ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris.
A source at the time told PEOPLE that Powell and Sweeney were just “friends who met on set,” and that Powell’s relationship with Paris “had been on the rocks since Top Gun came out” in May 2022.
Powell is a “fellow camp counselor, adventure extraordinaire, and goof ball,” and Sweeney has called her. She added in a May interview with PEOPLE that it was fun to film Anyone But You with her all day.
She said, “It was just nonstop laughter.” Every day was absolutely an absolute blast for us. It was a very pleasurable encounter.
“It was really fun,” she went on. “I can’t wait for it to be out.”
