Starting from a role in a horror movie to transforming into a chess genius, the beautiful and talented Anya Taylor-Joy is known as one of Hollywood’s top young stars.

 

While walking her dog, Anya Taylor-Joy was discovered by a modeling agency. From then on, she began to reveal her true talent on screen. At the age of 19, Taylor-Joy took on her first female lead role in the horror film The Witch (2015). Dramatic content and impressive acting ability helped her win many nominations for emerging young actresses.

 

Until collaborating with famous filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, Anya’s name officially became known to many people. The role of a kidnapped girl in Split (2016) confronting a pervert with 24 personalities (played by James McAvoy) delivered an extremely excellent performance, making the audience look forward even more to the sequel Glass ( 2019) by this couple.

 

In just three years, the Anglo-Argentine hybrid rose has transformed into 22 characters, each role bringing a unique impression. How was the journey to your first role in The Witch?

 

I started working as a model when I turned 16. The third time I stood in front of the camera, I got to know an actor and thanks to that, I contacted the agency. The Witch was one of my first auditions but was very impressive to me. Looking back at the past, an 18-year-old girl, with no relatives, went to a remote land in Canada, filming a horror movie with a new crew collaborating for the first time. It was an exciting process and I wasn’t scared at all. The actual filming experience was great and it taught me a lot of lessons. Everyone contributes to pursuing their passion for work and taking care of each other like a big family.

 

Did Anya study acting or performing arts before debuting?

 

There is absolutely no training school. It was just a few plays in high school and I often directed people because I dreamed of becoming a director one day. I definitely took on key roles in drama class, but those were just student roles.

 

 

Since her success in her first role, what makes Taylor-Joy always work so hard without stopping?

 

Acting is something I always want to improve and learn more about. That is the strong passion that has motivated us to accept projects from the past to present. I gradually become more mature through each role even though I still have many worries in mind. Appearing at premieres or premieres, I feel much more confident and comfortable than before. Maybe I’m getting used to it.

 

In the future, which director does Anya want to collaborate with?

 

 

 

Have a lot of. Instead of naming names, I would like to introduce them as people with unique artistic visions, creating distinctive works. It could be of any genre.
