Sydney Sweeney channeled timeless Hollywood glamor at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars Party — and paid homage to a legendary actress while she did it.

Following Sunday night’s Academy Awards, Sweeney, 26, stood on the red carpet wearing an iconic cream-colored Marc Bouwer gown. According to Molly Dickson, the actress’ stylist, on Instagram, Angelina Jolie first wore the dress to the 2004 Oscars. 

The Euphoria actress was granted access to the New York City designer’s archives, and her stylist expressed gratitude to Paul Margolin, president of Marc Bouwer, for his assistance in putting together the “special moment.”

The satin gown had a low back and a plunging neckline. It also had a long train and a matching shawl. Sweeney accessorized it with Messika jewelry, which included a statement tiered pendant necklace and more casual stud earrings.

Adding to her already classic appearance, Sweeney’s Vanity Fair after-party ensemble featured a new hairstyle, a sensual haircut cut into free waves.

Bouwer called Sweeney’s antique gown “beautiful” on Instagram, thanking her stylist for putting the whole thing together.

“Taken from the records. Looked amazing on Angelina Jolie at the 2004 Oscars, and now on the gorgeous @sydney_sweeney,” he captioned a shot of Sweeney from Sunday night. “Its 20th anniversary rebirth is the best I could have hoped for. I appreciate @mollyddickson’s beautiful styling and @paulmargolin’s assistance in making this possible.”

The Anyone But You star talked to PEOPLE about her current style mantra just days before Sunday’s starry event — and after making a show-stopping appearance at the fall/winter 2024-2025 Miu Miu show at Paris Fashion Week in a pair of metallic underwear that retail for $5,800.

“I honestly just vibe with whatever event’s going on,” Sweeney said of her sense of style. “It’s always a little bit different.”

“That’s the fun thing about all of this, it’s like playing dress-up. It’s boring to do the same thing over and over again.”

She also weighed in on whether she plans to attend the 2024 Met Gala — one of fashion’s biggest nights — as she teased, “Maybe, maybe not.”

“I might be working,” she admitted. “We’re trying to figure it out, so we’ll see.”

Sweeney’s Vanity Fair Oscars Party look was also reminiscent of an outfit she wore late last year as she attended the premiere of her romcom Anyone But You with Glen Powell in Australia.

For the premiere in Sydney, Sweeney wore a Givenchy Spring Summer 2024 outfit designed by Matthew M. Williams, with the sheer ensemble consisting of a pale yellow two-piece design featuring a draped top with an open back and a matching skirt.
