Furiosa, George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, gets a brand-new, official image. The new post-apocalyptic epic, which is scheduled to debut in May 2024, will center on the beginnings of Charlize Theron’s Fury Road character—this time, played by Anya Taylor-Joy. Along with Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus and Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic, who are returning from Fury Road, the film’s cast also includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, and Daniel Webber.

The official trailer for the Furiosa movie was revealed during CCXP’s panel prior to its Warner Bros. internet release. Take a look at it below:

As it introduces Taylor-Joy’s youthful Furiosa, who hasn’t cut her long, flowing hair at the start of the film (though the last shot reveals she does so over the course of the story), the trailer promises an action-packed epic. She faces up against an unrecognizable Chris Hemsworth as the villain Dementus on her search for home while also trying to save a child’s life.

Everything the Furiosa Trailer Reveals About the Movie

As this is the first trailer for Furiosa, it only provides a first glimpse at the majority of the cast in character and omits numerous important story points. But the teaser teases at a lot of significant events in Furiosa’s early existence, once the onscreen text establishes that the film is set 45 years after the destruction of civilization. She also swears to come home at all costs, but she doesn’t really do this until the events of Fury Road.

It appears that Furiosa will be defending a child’s life for a significant portion of the story. The young persona appears to be presented as a trophy for winning a race, and Furiosa is later seen driving her away. This demonstrates that the character’s protective tendencies, which she subsequently exhibits in an attempt to save the spouses of Hugh Keays-Byrne’s Fury Road antagonist Immortan Joe, existed long before the events of that film.

The new antagonist played by Chris Hemsworth is also shown in the Furiosa trailer, though it’s unclear exactly what kind of threat he represents. A younger Immortan Joe is also present, albeit he still needs to use the breathing apparatus he dons in Fury Road. Overall, the film appears to be a comprehensive continuation of the Mad Max universe established in the preceding film, albeit one that promises a lot of exciting new turns and surprises.
